Small group Video!

This is a small group video that was made by some of the tech guys from Gracepoint Fellowship Church - Berkeley. It's a free resource that actually anyone can download/use. I think that's awesome!

I remember joining our small group for the first time in freshmen year...it was a very unique experience. It was exciting and scary, not to say small groups were scary, but, similar to joining a new club or whatnot, I had to meet new people. And meeting new people can be a little scary for me. My first impression of the other girls in the small group was that I have never met people more different from me (ok, I have, but still, they were pretty different :p). I remember thinking, "Wow, how am I supposed to find my 'best friends' from this group of people?" But it's been two years, and guess what, I've found my closest and most genuine friends from the same exact group of people. I don't remember too much of what we talked about that semester (:P sorry), but I remember the warmth and homey atmosphere that Esther and Jacqui provided for us. It made me feel less homesick and depressed (about school). I remember the delicious dinners as well, it was so good (Jacqui and Esther's cooking!!! ><)... I believe a few weeks into the first semester, small groups and Bible studies became the two things I looked forward to the most from a week. :)

I first joined a small group because my roommate Olivia really wanted to, so I decided to follow her (because I didn’t really know what else I wanted to do in freshman year). I didn’t think I could really find true friends in a group of girls that had been randomly thrown together. And after I had met and hung out with all of them, I was even more skeptical of the idea since we were all so different. Small group times usually consisted of dinner at someone’s apartment (I’m so grateful for their good cooking!), some light chats, and then a time when we would just talk about spiritual things. Depending on whether we were Christian or not, we would either reflect on messages given at bible studies/church or we would tackle some of the doubts that we were dealing with. It took some getting used to, but it became a homey environment where I could ask any questions I had or share my thoughts. I had never gone to church before, so this type of community and spiritual stuff was new to me, but over these past few years, my small group, my leaders, and I have really had the chance to bond and share some fun times. I now know that I have these girls and leaders to count on in any circumstance.
